This presentation discusses Japan's latest hydrogen policy in the context of the green transformation (GX) strategy, focusing on the updated National Hydrogen Strategy (2023) and the recommendation discussed at the government-appointed hydrogen and ammonia policy deliberation committee.
<Speaker Profile>
Having practised as an international business lawyer in the energy and infrastructure sector for more than a decade in London and Tokyo, Mr Adachi joined METI in July 2022 and currently leads the hydrogen and ammonia team and develops policies and strategies towards a future hydrogen society. He is a regular speaker at the various conferences and his recent activities include: secretariat of the government-appointed hydrogen policy deliberation committee, head of delegate and co-chair of the IPHE steering committee meetings, secretariat and a session panelist at the 6th Hydrogen Energy Ministerial Meeting, and head of delegate at Deutschland-Japan Energiepartnerschaft WG2 (Hydrogen) .

As environmental regulations become stricter around the world, and electrification is effective as one of the solution. On the other hand, there are still many issues, especially the cost of batteries is huge wall compared to the cost of the ICE. But conversely, there are things that can only be done by EVs compared to ICE vehicles. I will introduce latest Honda's efforts to apply that are utilizing EVs batteries as "moving storage batteries" with a focus on V2L and swappable batteries.

Niels Steenberg originates from Denmark, but he has spent close to 20 years living in Asia Pacific. He joined the Wind Power industry in 2011 and has been leading Siemens Gamesa's Offshore activities in Asia Pacific since the establishment of its regional headquarters in Taipei, in December 2017. Prior to that, he was heading onshore sales in the region for four year. His aim is to establish a strong and sustainable footprint for Siemens Gamesa in Asia Pacific, in order to support the development of the offshore industry with competitive product solutions, fit for the region's specifics needs.
